Odyssey Split System Line – Trane

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Trane – by Trane Technologies announced updates to its Odyssey™ split system line.

When rooftop installation isn’t an option, a Trane Odyssey split system is a versatile choice that delivers up-to-date energy efficiency, meeting U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) 2023 standards. Split systems provide the same high-performance heating and cooling of a packaged rooftop system but allow engineers and contractors to work around unique building designs, such as glass ceilings, pitched roofs, or code and service limitations.

The Odyssey’s exceptional energy efficiency is realized by its Symbio® 700 controller, now standard, and a new multispeed air handler that can be configured for two-stage or single-zone VAV or Variable Volume Zone Temperature (VVZT). It’s available with several indoor and outdoor compressor and condenser options, including dual-compressor and dual-circuit models, so technicians can service either compressor without shutting down.

“Whether modeling for decarbonization during design and validation, reducing complexity on the day of installation, or optimizing energy efficiency during operation, Trane’s updated software, all-electric systems, and updated unitary models help to empower owners to create the right solution for their building,” said Dave Molin, vice president of product management, equipment, controls, and digital, Trane.

Vision and Skyline Air Handlers Enhanced with SVT – Daikin Applied

MINNEAPOLIS — Daikin Applied's Vision® and Skyline® air handlers will be enhanced with Sorbent Ventilation Technology™ (SVT™) from enVerid Systems, creating a total-air-quality system that combines the benefits of sorbent media with a semi-custom air handler. This news comes a year after Daikin Applied announced the upgraded Rebel Applied™ packaged rooftop system with SVT.

Vision and Skyline with SVT will continue to address common IAQ issues in buildings. For example, the integrated SVT system from Daikin improves IAQ by removing CO2; volatile organic compounds (VOCs), such as formaldehyde; and other contaminants using sorbent filtration that captures pollutants while allowing oxygen and water to pass through freely, resulting in cleaner air. The integrated system can reduce outside ventilation by as much as 80%, providing greater control of humidity and comfort while trimming annual operating expenses by up to 30%.

“Whether a customer wants an air handler and chiller combination or a packaged rooftop system, we’re now able to bring the benefits of integrated SVT to a broad range of applications,” said Jim Macosko, vice president of product marketing and applications, Daikin Applied. “This enhancement boasts several benefits as a more sustainable and efficient solution, serving as a gateway toward our energy-efficiency and net-zero-buildings goals.”

SGS Evaporative Condenser – SPX Cooling Tech LLC

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — SPX Cooling Tech LLC, a full-line, full-service industry designer and manufacturer of evaporative cooling towers, air-cooled heat exchangers, and evaporative condensers, introduced the SGS Industrial Evaporative Condenser (IEC).

The IEC from SGS includes a fan system that is fully welded (no tack welds) with six fan shaft supports specially designed to balance airflow across the coil, with 340-degree fan shrouds, which are robustly constructed and bolted to the basin section in both front and back, and complete with heavy-duty industrial-banded drive belts. The unit’s construction also includes wash-off flanges that angle down to prevent water and debris accumulation — helping to increase hygiene initiatives and reduce biologic contamination.

SPX Cooling Tech acquired SGS Refrigeration in 2019, and has since been working to improve its line of evaporators and evaporative condensers while continuing to serve SGS customers throughout North America. SGS products have been utilized in the industrial and commercial refrigeration industry since 2010, with products distributed through a network of skilled professional refrigeration representatives around the U.S. and Canada.

White-Rogers 50M56X-843 Integrated Furnace Control – Emerson

ST. LOUIS — Emerson launched its White-Rogers™ 50M56X-843 universal single-stage hot surface ignition (HSI) integrated furnace control, a control that offers the first single-stage universal replacement that can be configured for either permanent split capacitor (PSC) or electronically commutaated motor (ECM)x blower motors.

The HSI furnace control offers the ability to replace more than 550 part numbers with only one control, reducing inventory by providing maximum control replacement coverage. With no additional harnesses required, this universal control utilizes the existing OEM harnesses, providing contactors an easier installation process.

The control is equipped with innovative features, including near field communication (NFC), which creates a wireless connection between the control and a mobile device. Using the White-Rogers Connect mobile app, the control allows contractors to quickly configure the control, without power, and provide accurate diagnostics with full fault code text and troubleshooting tips. A new feature within the app is called Auto-Set, which allows users to enter the replacement part number to automatically configure the HSI furnace control to the replacement part’s original settings. Hundreds of OEM settings have been preloaded into the app to take the guesswork out of configuration.

“The White-Rodgers universal HSI integrated furnace control is the ultimate universal single-stage replacement for both PSC and ECMx blower motors that allows contractors to carry fewer parts and make more replacements without having to return to the warehouse or distributor, saving time and money,” said Craig Rossman, president, White-Rodgers for Emerson. “Through the combination of our new furnace control and White-Rogers Connect, the installation process is now simple and hassle-free.”
