Aero-X Coil Technology – SPX Cooling Technologies Inc.

SPX Cooling Technologies Inc. incorporated new proprietary Aero-X coil technology into its induced-draft, closed-circuit DT Fluid Coolers. The Aero-X tube profile maximizes thermal capacity per coil row thanks to the low air-side pressure drop (up to 10% more airflow at the same fan HP) and maximum heat transfer surface area.

Dry operation is extended for longer periods. Depending on climate, operators can gain up to 15%-20% more incremental annual hours in dry mode, with 3,000 gallons per ton and $40 per ton annual water savings per ton of cooling achievable in many areas. Optional finned coils further enhance dry operation capability at higher ambient temperatures.

Reduced fluid pressure drop, up to 30% lower than previous generation, positively impacts system operating cost by lowering pump energy demand. DT models are available in a wide range of sizes and layouts to meet specific requirements and offer options for reducing equipment size.

Mixed Flow Square Inline Fan Line – Greenheck

Greenheck’s SQ mixed flow fan line, featuring a unique combination of high efficiency, low sound, and ease of installation in a square housing design, now includes an outdoor option along with additional accessories and sizes. The SQ mixed flow fan can now be specified for ducted horizontal-mount outdoor applications when space constraints require a cost-effective, rooftop-mounted unit. The outdoor option is base-mounted and includes a full cover over the unit to protect electrical components and prevent water entrainment.

New accessories include inlet and outlet guards to protect against intrusions; these guards remove easily for maintenance and inspection. The SQ mixed flow fan’s new filtration box provides a compact, clean air solution while eliminating the need for special remote filter box assemblies. Removable access panels on both sides of the filter section allow for easy access and maintenance. A variety of washable aluminum MERV-8 and MERV-13 filters are available. These accessories allow installation of the SQ mixed flow fan in a wide variety of inline applications.

With the addition of sizes 12 and 15, mixed flow model SQ is now available in 10 sizes, 12 through 33, with performance ranges up to 27,497 cfm and up to 3 in. wg. Model SQ is available with single-phase or three-phase direct drive Vari-Green® motors up to 10 hp. Greenheck SQ mixed flow fans are licensed to bear the Air Movement and Control Association (AMCA) Sound and Air Performance and Fan Energy Index (FEI) seals. FEI allows comparison of fan efficiencies to improve selections to meet code requirements and provide highly efficient performance in a smaller size fan. Greenheck SQ mixed flow square inline fans are ideal for supply, exhaust, return, or make-up air systems in indoor and outdoor clean air applications where space is a prime consideration.

EXR Water Heater – Essency

The new Essency EXR water heater offers tankless advantages, such as hot water on demand, in a conventional tank water heater. The EXR installs like any other conventional tank water heater while delivering tankless-type performance. With its 80-gallon first-hour rating, the EXR outperforms all tank and tankless competitors in its class.
Water in the 55-gallon tank stays put, never entering the household system, so the tank requires no anodes, and scale buildup is minimized. The stored water acts as a thermal heat source, heating incoming tap water as it passes through an oversized heat exchanger in response to household demand.

The tough polymer composite tank is warrantied to last for 20 years. App-based Wi-Fi connectivity lets users control settings remotely, while the on-board battery backup system keeps the water flowing hot, even in case of a power interruption. Molded side handles make for easy one-person installation. Whether for a new build or replacement situation, the EXR bridges the gap between tank and tankless and fits the purpose.

X3 Scale Prevention Technology – A.O. Smith Corp.

A.O. Smith added the X3® Scale Prevention Technology to its full line of residential condensing gas tankless water heaters. Designed with both consumers and contractors in mind, X3 Technology prevents scale buildup in a tankless unit, eliminating the need for routine descaling maintenance, tripling the expected lifetime of a unit, and enabling it to run at like-new performance and efficiency.

X3 Technology means you never have to descale a tankless water heater again – alleviating maintenance time for contractors and reducing ownership costs for homeowners. Units featuring X3 Technology work especially well in homes with hard water where damaging scale and mineral deposits are more common. The units use up to 199,000 Btu per hour of natural gas to deliver a continuous supply of hot water to residential applications.

Available on A.O. Smith’s suite of condensing gas tankless products (240, 340, and 540 indoor and outdoor, natural gas, and propane models), units with X3 Technology offer customers an array of sizes to fit a variety of application needs. These products are also backed by the industry’s only limited warranty with no exclusions for scale-related failures.

ETS 8M Electric Expansion Valve – Danfoss

Danfoss has announced further additions to its ETS range of electric expansion valves for heat pumps, close controls, and process chillers. The ETS 8M enables OEMs and end users to benefit from greater efficiency and reliability with low applied costs. To further strengthen and expand the choice available to OEMs, the new ETS 8M series offers additional options in the lower capacity end of the Danfoss EEV portfolio. With four sizes available from 12-40 HP (62-114 kW) with high bi-flow MOPD, application costs can be significantly reduced by only using one valve in both flow directions.

The valves have been designed to deliver high accuracy, performance, and energy efficiency and are ideal for use in applications where round-the-clock temperature consistency is critical.

Danfoss has drawn on its expertise and experience to support customers with the shift toward low-GWP refrigerants. The ETS 8M series is compatible with R-454B as well as R-32 and can be complemented with an entire portfolio of Danfoss components, compressors, and heat exchangers available with these refrigerants, including more low-GWP options. They are also compatible with existing 12V drivers.

GenSet Dampers – Ruskin

Ruskin announces three new emergency generator inlet dampers (GenSet) designed to quickly open to relieve combustion air and pressure during emergency generator startup. GenSets activate quickly to power areas without a grid, those that experience frequent outages, and in applications where outages could cause major issues or danger. The fast release of combustion air and pressure that dampers in GenSet rooms provide can prevent equipment damage and protect the surrounding area.

The CD60GS, CD50GS, and TED50GS are specially equipped with new, fast-acting RUS-GEN Series electric actuators that operate sections independently to allow for swift air relief. The factory-mounted, eight-second spring return actuator is housed within a NEMA 4X weather enclosure and tested to 40,000 open/closed cycles, offering durability and reliable performance.

All three GenSet models meet the lowest AMCA leakage rating – Class 1A – which allows maximum leakage of 3 cfm per square foot at 1-inch w.g. when blades are closed. The dampers feature parallel blade action for optimum performance and have mechanically fastened Santoprene blade edge seals along with shake-proof linkage to extend the life of the damper.
