System-1000 Flow and Energy Measurement Systems – Onicon

LARGO, Fla. — Onicon introduced the System-1000 flow and energy measurement system. Designed for use in high-performance buildings, the System-1000 is a multichannel interface that provides measurement of thermal energy usage, flow, temperatures, efficiency, and other engineering parameters.

One of the key features of the System-1000 is its multiple flow meter options. Designed for networking, up to eight flow meters can be connected to the unit. Two are reserved for energy calculation, two auxiliary inputs are for electric, steam, gas, or water flow rates, and four contact closure inputs are for totalization or alarms.

The System-1000 can perform up to two thermal energy calculations simultaneously, and provides thermal energy measurement in chilled water, heating hot water, condenser water, and domestic water systems. The energy measurement is based on signal inputs from matched precision temperature sensors and any of Onicon's inline, insertion, or clamp-on style flow meters. Additionally, the System-1000 can accept input from non-Onicon flow meters (4-20mA & pulse).

FSKN BACnet Remote Inspection Modules – Belimo Americas

DANBURY, Conn. — Belimo Americas introduced its FSKN remote inspection modules that allow code-required periodic testing of International Building Code Chapter 7 actuated life safety dampers without costly visual inspections.

The module initiates damper cycling and verifies the damper position to ensure proper emergency operation. It connects seamlessly to fire alarm panels or building automation systems using BACnet or Modbus communication protocols. The fire alarm and BAS companies will be more efficient with damper testing and comply with code requirements ensuring proper damper operation. The series includes 24 (FSKN24) and 120 (FSKN120) volt offerings.

BURR RIDGE, Ill. — Weil-McLain has announced the availability of its 2023 Department of Energy (DOE)-compliant commercial cast iron product portfolio with enhanced boiler efficiencies. The upgraded designs of the LGB Steam/Water Series 3 and 88 Water Series 3 boiler product lines include new features that go beyond just regulatory compliance.

DOE regulation 431.87 states that commercial boilers manufactured after January 9, including knockdown, assembled block and complete package configurations, must meet higher minimum efficiency standards. The LGB family meets those requirements with enhanced thermal efficiencies up to 84% and combustion efficiencies up to 81%. Additionally, the 88 product family is 2023 DOE-compliant with thermal efficiencies up to 87% and combustion efficiencies up to 88%.

Taco Comfort Solutions 0026e ECM Circulators

CRANSTON, R.I. — Taco Comfort Solutions has expanded its family of ECM circulators with the addition of the 0026e. With a maximum of 26 feet of head and 44 gallons per minute, the new variable-speed circulator is available with cast iron or NSF/ANSI 61 & 372 certified stainless-steel volutes, for either closed-loop heating systems or domestic hot water systems. It also offers a rotatable control box for a professional look, no matter the orientation of the installed circulator.

The 0026e circulator features five simple settings: low, medium, high, Taco’s exclusive ActiveAdapt self-adjusting proportional pressure, and 0-10v control. Its variable speed performance curves are equivalent to Taco’s 0010, 0011, 0012, 0012 and 0014 models.

The 0026e is dual-voltage 115V/230V, and the 6.5-inch rotated flange-to-flange dimension retrofits most circulators in its class. The new circulator includes exclusive features, including SureStart automatic unblocking and air purging, Bio Barrier black iron oxide protection, dual electrical knockouts, and recessed flange nut-grabbers.

Marley Watergard Water Usage Optimizer – SPX Cooling Tech LLC

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — SPX Cooling Tech LLC, a full-line, full-service designer and manufacturer of evaporative cooling towers and air-cooled heat exchangers, introduced the Marley WaterGard, a water usage optimizer and filtration system. WaterGard helps reduce wastewater and overall water usage on packaged evaporative cooling products by using membrane technology to pre-condition cooling tower water and limit salt (i.e. chlorides, calcium carbonate) introduction into the tower.

The salt concentration of makeup (supply) water typically controls how much water needs to be blown down, or drained from the system, to limit corrosion and scale tendencies of the cooling water. Reducing this concentration with WaterGard allows safe cooling tower system operation at higher cycles of concentration (less blowdown).

WaterGard is available in North American markets and offered in a variety of sizes based on the capacity of the cooling towers. Features include an integral pump, bypass function and an optional carbon system for chlorine filtration.
